The recommended tyre pressure can vary depending on factors such as your vehicle’s make, model, and age. You can typically find this information in your car’s handbook or the pressure label sticker, usually on the driver’s side door jamb or glove compartment.

There are two methods to ensure your tyre’s tread depth meets legal requirements. The first method involves using a 20p coin inserted into the tyre grooves. If the coin’s outer rim is visible, your tyres exceed the legal tread depth limit of 1.6mm. Alternatively, for a more precise measurement, you can use a tread depth indicator to measure the exact depth of the tread.

To maintain proper inflation, it’s essential to check tyre pressures regularly, ideally at least once a month. Additionally, consider checking tyre pressures before embarking on long journeys or if you observe signs of underinflation or overinflation.

The specific type of tyres you need depends on factors such as wheel size, vehicle type, and driving conditions. Refer to your vehicle’s handbook or consult with a tyre specialist for personalized guidance on selecting the appropriate tyres.

Several signs indicate that your tyres may need replacement. These include visible signs of wear such as uneven tread wear, cracks, or bulges on the tyre sidewall. If you notice decreased traction, increased braking distance, or vibrations while driving, it may be time to replace your tyres.
